How to Use the Calorie Tracker
This tracker lets you log everything you eat and drink throughout the day, organized into four time-of-day sections. For each entry, you provide the food description, the amount consumed, and the calorie count. The tool calculates subtotals for each section and a daily grand total automatically.
Use the date picker to navigate between days. The tracker defaults to today but you can log entries for any past or future date. All entries are editable — click on any field to change it, and changes save automatically. Visit the history page to see all your logged days at a glance.
Tips for Accurate Calorie Tracking
Check nutrition labels for packaged foods — they list calories per serving, so make sure you account for how many servings you actually consumed. For home-cooked meals, estimate based on individual ingredients rather than guessing the total. Common cooking oils add about 120 calories per tablespoon, which is easy to overlook.
Reading Nutrition Labels
Pay attention to the "per serving" line. A bag of chips might list 150 calories per serving, but contain 3 servings per bag. If you eat the whole bag, that is 450 calories, not 150. This is the single most common source of tracking errors.
Estimating Portions
When you do not have a label, use simple references: a fist-sized portion of rice or pasta is roughly 200 calories, a palm-sized piece of meat is about 200-250 calories, and a thumb-sized amount of oil or butter is around 100 calories. These are rough estimates but far better than not tracking at all.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where is my calorie tracking data stored?
All data is stored locally in your browser's localStorage. Nothing is sent to any server. Your data stays on your device and is available only in the browser you used to enter it. Clearing your browser data, using incognito/private mode, or switching browsers will not have access to previously saved entries.
How do I track calories for a specific day?
Use the date picker at the top to navigate to any date. Each day is divided into four sections: Night (12 AM - 6 AM), Morning (6 AM - 12 PM), Afternoon (12 PM - 6 PM), and Evening (6 PM - 12 AM). Click "Add entry" in the appropriate section, then enter the food description, amount, and calorie count.
Can I edit or delete entries after saving them?
Yes, all entries are editable at any time. Simply click on any field (description, amount, or calories) to change its value. Changes are saved automatically. To delete an entry, click the X button on its row. To delete an entire day, visit the History page.
How accurate are the calorie values?
You enter all calorie values yourself based on your own knowledge, food labels, or other sources. This tool does not look up calories automatically. The accuracy depends entirely on the values you provide. For best results, check nutrition labels or use a food database to find calorie counts before entering them.
